Domaine des Enfants was founded in 2006 near the village of Maury in Roussillon by Swiss-born Marcel Bühler, who was joined in 2010 by native Oregonian Carrie Sumner. Bühler has eschewed herbicides since the beginning, relying on horses to work the soil in his oldest vineyards, and they acheived Ecocert organic certification in 2010. Their 2019 Tabula Rasa has a certain gravity that pulls you into its golden depths, a day of air pulling the honeyed golden apple flavors to whole lemon complexity, somehow managing to seamlessly integrate its airy sweetness and fresh verve. A base of leesiness adds savor. This is a textural wine, whipped to stiff peaks, generous yet light on its feet, and it only got fresher over the course of a week, suggesting it would reward cellaring.
Every week, our editors highlight a wine that intrigued them in our blind panel tastings, expanding on their tasting note in this space. These are entirely editorial choices; there are no paid placements. Subscribers can also access the original tasting note by searching here.
