Great Heart is an employee-owned venture of the teams at Mullineux and Leeu Passant, and the wines we’ve tasted this year and last offer plenty to be excited about. This is a really quaffable chenin—the candied-pear flavors laced with high-toned florals grab your attention first. Don’t inger too long on them—though I’d be happy to—or you might pass over the gentle wildflower complexity and salted-lemon lift. Most of the wine underwent its fermentation in tank, with 15 percent going into older neutral French oak. We often say wine is channeling the earth—this one exists in the clouds, floating and unencumbered.
