Christina Walther of Jeffrey’s in Austin, Texas, was named Best Sommelier at the 2019 TexSom Competition in August. The competition, now in its 15th year, pits candidates from Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas in a three-part exam that includes mock service, blind tasting, and written theory.
Co-founded by Master Sommeliers James Tidwell and Drew Hendricks, TexSom takes place every August at the Four Seasons Resort Club at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas, presenting tastings and seminars by top professionals in wine.
