Along with San Francisco’s Terroir, this Oakland shop and wine bar is ground zero for natural wine in the Bay Area. It’s quite literally the avant garde: Tomorrow’s culty sans soufre gamay will often appear here before anywhere else. Wine buyer Quentin Jeanroy is the shop’s ultimate asset, adds Haley Moore, wine director for the Stock & Bones Group: “He’s able to recommend totally new stuff that is super interesting, but knows my palate well enough that he keeps it a little classic for me.” The bar serves a few snacks, and periodic lo-fi dinner pop-ups provide an opportunity to stay awhile and get to know some more new wines.
