Ramen Shop is the brainchild of three Chez Panisse alumni—Jerry Jaksich, Rayneil De Guzman and Sam White—who wanted to give a local and organic twist to ramen. The food may get much of the attention, but the cocktails are some of the most interesting and wellcrafted around. There’s always a quick-service punch, like a recently featured Pimm’s Cup, plus a regularly changing roster of seasonally inspired cocktails. Seasonality makes drinks like the Nee-Guy Spritz a touch tantalizing and ephemeral; it’s a twist on the Negroni that utilizes the refreshing tang of cranberries. And while it may not be as complex, the Highball, a mix of Japanese whisky and soda water, works amazingly well with the food.
