As old as old-school gets, Peppone is a Brentwood institution largely unchanged since its inception in 1974. It’s a place with cloisonné lamps suspended over red leather banquettes and a menu studded with classics—linguini and meatballs, osso buco, fettucini Alfredo. Wine professionals come here for Gianni Paoletti’s wine list, with Italian favorites going back decades. You can drink mature Barolos from Rinaldi, or Côte- Rôtie from Guigal, opened expertly by a staff that probably hasn’t changed since the place opened.
