For a high-end pizza experience, head to Marta, a vast, high-ceilinged space in the Martha Washington Hotel near Madison Square Park. Nick Anderer puts out a tempting selection of meats from his open-fire grill, but the main attraction is the paper-thin-crusted pizzas that come from two wood-burning ovens, with toppings like deeply flavored sausage or woodsy wild mushrooms. For drinking, Jack Mason has compiled a deep list of Champagne as well as Barolo, with stocks from the late ’90s and early 2000s listed at prices that would have felt reasonable back then. Bartolo Mascarello 2008 for $198? Now that’s a pizza wine.
