At Contento, accessibility is not only emphasized, it comes in different forms. Yannick Benjamin and his managing team have made the restaurant experience welcoming for diners with disabilities through structural decisions such as placement and height of tables and bar tops, but they’ve also developed a wine list with a vast diversity of price points, styles and regions. Locality is emphasized through their East Coast section, highlighted by several North Fork and Hudson Valley selections, as well as a bright, structured cabernet franc from Virginia’s Early Mountain Vineyards. Surprising values appear in older vintages as well, with the inclusion of a 1999 Banfi Brunello di Montalcino at $125. In the kitchen, Oscar Lorenzzi, who helped develop the 5 Napkin Burger franchise, turns out dishes including a mouthwatering tower of pork katsu delivered with refreshing daikon slaw and a tangy yuzu aioli. You’ll be begging for more of that aioli before your meal is over.
