Spurred on by an initiative started by Rheinhessen winemakers Klaus Peter and Julia Keller, Rieslingfeier is holding a #wineloversagainstcorona charity auction. The five lots on offer include a case of well-aged sweet rieslings from the collection of former German wine importer Rudi Wiest as well as a 1995 Château Pétrus donated by journalist and wine collector Fareed Zakaria. One hundred percent of the proceeds go directly to charities supporting the restaurant community, including the Restaurant Workers’ Community Fund and the James Beard Relief Fund and more. Bidding closes at midnight this Friday, April 24. Winners will be announced on Saturday afternoon.
