Bricco Pernice is a densely planted, five-acre plot within Valter Fissore and Nadia Cogno’s Ravera cru, which they bottled separately for the first time in 2005. Fissore says its limestone soil helps bring the grapes to perfect maturation, especially in vintages like 2010, when tannins are more evident. The wine exhibits a freshness and vitality typical of the best wines of the vintage. Aromas of rose petals and ripe red fruit give a delicate impression before the wine unfurls its power on the palate. Brisk tannins lift the perfectly ripe red cherry and pomegranate fruit, adding notes of black spice, mint and an earthy layer of dried porcini. Thrilling now for its freshness, precision and length, the wine will gain even more complexity with five to six years in the cellar.
