Tanqueray Old Tom Gin - Wine & Spirits Magazine

Tanqueray Old Tom Gin

Based on a recipe devised by Charles Tanqueray in 1835, Tanqueray Old Tom stands out among the gins currently on the market for how it bridges the malty and rustic Dutch-style genever with the standard London dry variety. Tanqueray Master Distiller Tom Nichol utilizes the same botanicals as the standard Tanqueray, but in different proportions, with two different grain-based spirits produced on six different stills. The resulting gin smells like porcini mushrooms and a forest floor, and tastes citrusy, with a creamy texture and light malty sweetness. It’s a total bargain for both gin fans and those just starting a home bar.
