Vendanges Solidaires

Racines NY and Chambers Street Wines are raising money for winemakers hit hard by extreme weather in 2016.

In 2016, extreme weather events like hail, frost and drought wreaked havoc on vintners across France, decimating harvests in places like Chablis, Morgon, Fleurie, Pic-Saint-Loup and Menetou-Salon. Some producers lost entire vineyards’ worth of fruit due to hailstorms. In response, Racines and Chambers Street Wines in NYC have joined Vendanges Solidaires, a French initiative to raise money to aid the hardest hit. From October 24 through November 5, Racines NY will donate $2 for every bottle of French wine purchased. Chambers Street Wines will donate $1 for every French bottle sold on October 29 and 30. Supporters may donate directly as well.

Caitlin Griffith knew her future career would entail food and drink when, at the age of six, she munched an anchovy from her father’s Caesar salad thinking it as a small strip of bacon—and was more than pleasantly surprised. While enrolled in New York University’s Food Studies program, she learned the secrets of affinage in the caves of Murray’s Cheese.
