Wine Bar

City Winery

Good music and wine play nicely together at all of the City Winery locations, but the pairing has received an exceptional response here in Music City, its newest branch after NYC, Chicago and Napa. With the on-site winery now up and running, it’s the only working wine-production facility inside Nashville—offering tours, wine growlers and even barrel-buying programs. Head winemaker Bill Anton, a former thoroughbred jockey who has also worked for wineries in New York and North Carolina, blends grapes from all over the world for the venue’s house label. Meanwhile, beverage director Todd Johnston has assembled one of the city’s largest wine selections, especially deep in pinot noir and Bordeaux, along with a collection of large-format bottles, like a six-liter Gaja 2010 Ca’Marcanda. Ask him what’s new: He’s one of the sommeliers actively expanding local choices, bringing in wines new to the city, like a sparkling Vignale di Cecilia Val di Spin from Veneto, Italy.
