Glasserie

A restaurant located in an old glass factory, Glasserie is well worth the trek to the far reaches of Brooklyn’s northernmost neighborhood, Greenpoint. Here chef/owner Sara Kramer and GM/owner Sara Conklin are putting forward an intriguing and entirely delicious mashup of Middle Eastern flavors and market fare. Malawach, a flaky bread served with garlic, coriander, mint-topped labneh, is an addictive starter before moving into larger plates like the lamb tartare with briny olives and crackling bulghur chips. Conklin chooses the wine, a constantly revolving list full of delicious off-the-beaten path bottles like a juicy plavac mali from Bura in Croatia or tinta barroca from Muxagat in Portugal.

Caitlin Griffith knew her future career would entail food and drink when, at the age of six, she munched an anchovy from her father’s Caesar salad thinking it as a small strip of bacon—and was more than pleasantly surprised. While enrolled in New York University’s Food Studies program, she learned the secrets of affinage in the caves of Murray’s Cheese.
