Each year, our panels and critics blind taste more than 15,000 wines, looking for the most distinctive wines to present to our readers. Our Top 100 Wineries earned the highest scores in our tastings this year, with the most consistent performances over a range of wines. We will tell the stories of the people and vineyards behind these outstanding wines in our 31st Annual Buying Guide, on sale Tuesday, October 10th, 2017.

In celebration of the 14th anniversary the Top 100 Tasting hits the road showcasing Top 100 Wineries in events, including an interactive tasting seminar and winemaker dinners.

When we planned our first Top 100 event 14 years ago, the only thing editor Joshua Greene insisted on was a bounty of fresh-shucked oysters stationed by the Champagne. Aside from bubbles, many of our top-scoring wines are a great match for oysters—we’ve assembled five from our Top 100 to pair with five different types of oyster at Craft. Join us to find your favorite new oyster wine.

Our artisan winemaker dinner features El Dorado County’s The Withers and Eola–Amity Hill’s Bryn Mawr, with a three-course menu prepared by chef Kyle Koenigto to match their pinot noirs and bright Rhône-varietal blends—six top-scoring wines and library selections in all.
