Soif
|
Soif offers respite from burritos and brown rice in this laid-back seaside town. Not only are there classy snacks like Marcona almonds, ruffled prosciutto, marinated artichokes and grilled vegetables and aioli, but choices like Hidalgo Manzanilla Sherry to wash them down. Come hungrier and there are larger dishes, from sashimi to an artisan cheese plate, or entrée-sized portions of local salmon, truffled risotto and flatiron steak. It's all a great excuse to drink through the wine list, a short but exceptional line-up of the obscure, overlooked and geek-chic, offered by two- or five-ounce pours in addition to bottles. And if you fall in love with that ethereal French sparkling pear cider from Bordelet, or that unctuous Australian pinot gris, you can stock up in the adjacent store on your way out. It's the goal of Soif team Patrice Boyle, Ted Pearson and Hugh Weiler not to let anyone leave avec soif, or thirsty.
