Nu is a romantic space tucked away in a shaded courtyard complete with fountain, where three alums of Santa Barbara's heralded Wine Cask wine shop/restaurant have set up their own place. Chef David Cecchini plies guests with lusty, Euro-California country cuisine, while manager Leslie Tucker and wine buyer David Russell keep glasses filled from their 200-selection list. With choices heavy on local bottles, from Brewer-Clifton bubbly and Cold Heaven Viognier to Qupe Syrah and Santa Barbara Winery Late-Harvest Sauvignon Blanc, an array of intriguing imports, there's plenty to choose from - and dinner out won't break the bank.
