Lost Lake

Wave of Mutilation/A Fish Tank Needs Sharks (in the bowl with fire)

Lost Lake, a tiki bar that redefines the category, is the latest newcomer to Chicago’s bar scene, joining the ranks of classics like The Violet Hour and The Aviary. Find the bar through Thank You, an American-Chinese take-out counter in Logan Square, and enter the bright world of the tropics. Paul McGee, formerly of the Chicago tiki favorite Three Dots and a Dash, pays homage to founding father of tiki, Don the Beachcomber, with drinks like Bunny’s Banana Daiquiri, a refreshingly savory and complex take on the rum drink, or the scorpion bowl, a mix of gin, apple brandy, curação, orgeat and fresh fruit that serves several drinkers liberally. If you’re hungry, Thank You will deliver chili garlic peanuts, or fried rice with leek greens and ginger, to the bar.

While enrolled in New York University’s Food Studies program, she learned the secrets of affinage in the caves of Murray’s Cheese.
